Suv Continuously Rams Parked Vehicle in Alleged Sacramento
A video swirling around Sacramento shocked many people after an SUV is seen ramming another car multiple times during an alleged road rage incident. Two vehicles got off Highway 50 just before 1:30 p.m. Monday near X and 10th streets when one of the vehicles, a white Chevy Trailblazer, began ramming the other vehicle, a silver Ford Fiesta, according to Sacramento police.Soon after, the Ford Fiesta left the area and the Trailblazer rammed a parked vehicle, a blue Honda CRV, multiple times, pushing it into the intersection of X and 10th streets, police said. No one was inside. Nikki Guinn lives across the street from the second incident and filmed the relentless actions. "I was inside and I heard a car accident. Then, I heard my roommate yell, 'He's going to hit him again,'" Guinn said. "He didn't seem deterred or even aware of other people's surroundings."The ramming continued for several minutes until the driver of the Trailblazer, later identified as Jose Garcia Alvarez, 40, got out and jumped on the roof of the unoccupied CRV, breaking out the windows, investigators said."He seemed really upset. There's a couple of moments where he bends over and he starts hitting his head and he just seems really lost," Guinn said. "I think we just need to be more aware of what people are going through. Our inkling is to make fun and say nasty things about what this man was doing. But the truth is, none of us know."Officers arrived a few minutes later and detained Alvarez. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries."This individual was very violent and this obviously could have ended very differently," Sacramento police Sgt. Vance Chandler said. "At the time of the arrest, our officers had information that he was potentially under the influence of narcotics." Alvarez was later booked on felony charges of assault and vandalism, police said."To me it shows the severity of the types of calls our officers respond to on a daily basis," Chandler said. "Our officers were very patient and diligent in forming a plan to make sure that this ended peacefully."No one else was hurt in the incident.
